Older People and Technology Research Group

The Older People and Technology Research Group is a multidisciplinary research group spanning health and social care; ambient, pervasive and educational ICT, and widening participation in life-long learning. We are researching the everyday use of technologies by older people and younger people with disabilities, how they learn to use them, and how they can influence the design of emerging technologies. Our work shows that people of all ages enjoy learning about technologies informally and through play, especially peer learning. Once they have used technologies in a friendly informal setting, they are more likely to want to use them in future.
